Blackpool Drone Adventures

If you want to purchase any of the photos that I took in Blackpool, then take a look at my PicFair Page.

Previous attempt (2017)

I have been wanting to have a decent Drone Adventure around Blackpool for a long time now. I came to Blackpool for the October half term in 2017 but Storm Brian put a but of a stop to that.

Back in 2017 I did manage to get a few quick flights in but it was far too windy to do anything decent.

Here is a video of my first nighttime flight which shows the illuminated tram quite nicely. Please subscribe to my YouTube Channel if you like these videos.

Catching the sunrise

What I really wanted was  picture of the sun rising behind Blackpool tower but it was far too windy in 2017 when I went.

Another trip to Blackpool in 2018 gave me the ideal opportunity.

The weather was perfect, little wind, no clouds, the tide was due to be out in the morning too... and even better than that, it was a Sunday morning the day that the clocks went back which meant that, although I have to get up on Sunday morning at 7am (Before the sun rose), it was actually sort of an hour later because of the clocks going back.

As usual (But not always), setting off from my caravan base at 7am wasn't TOO bad.

I drove to Blackpool and parked in a back street south of Blackpool Tower (Bonny Street). It's amazing how quiet the place is that time on a morning. Also great to park, there was plenty of free parking on a Sunday (Max 2 hour stay)... Could this get any better 🙂

It was really quiet, I was half expecting some drunk people messing around and asking whether it was a drone but there were just a few people walking their dogs and a some people in high-vis jackets cleaning things up from the night before.

Onto the beach. Mine were the first footprints on that part of the beach.

It was Pretty cold (About 3 degrees), so I have the battery stored warmly in my pocket, I still had to wait for a minute with the message - warming up but soon up and flying, although did get warning saying battery less than 15 degrees everything was fine with the flight.

Here is the Video of the flight, starting at the South and making my way to line up the sun with the Blackpool Tower to (Hopefully get a decent shot).

Please remember to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you enjoy the videos... Sorry about the music on the video, I can never decide what to use.

Here are some of the photos I took ... including the one I really wanted which was the sun rising behind the tower... I was quite please with them. To see more and the high res versions (And maybe buy one) the take a look at my Pic Fair page.
